History
The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) was established in 1999 and is Denmark’s leading university focusing on IT research and education. We deliver state-of-the-art teaching and research within computer science, business IT and digital design.
Education
- Teaching at the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is research-based and based on a constructivist theory of learning, which states that learners construct their own learning in the contextual settings based on prior knowledge and experience. With a student-centered approach to learning, ITU organizes teaching and learning with a focus on the individual student's learning process, including extensive use of feedback.
- Teaching and learning activities are co-created in intense collaboration between faculty, students and administrative staff in order to create an excellent and motivating learning environment for our students.
Research
There are a number of different kind of research entities here at ITU.
Doing research can pose ethical dilemmas and integrity challenges. For instance, how to conduct responsible research? All researchers at the IT University are expected to:
- be familiar with (and follow) the research integrity guidelines described in this section
- in certain instances (for example when applying for external research funding requiring ethical approval), ensure that ethical requirements of their research are approved by the Pro-rector. The Pro-rector may choose to consult the Research Ethics Committee during the approval phase.
Career
- The Study and Career Guidance offers coaching and guidance in study and career. We host a number of events for students, and we offer a talk with a professional and trained student advisor.
- Come by The Study and Career Guidance if you are experiencing doubt about your choice of study, are considering your future career, wishes to clarify your skills or the like.

Housing services
The IT University has access to dorm rooms, which we allocate to our international students. We offer accommodation to all inbound exchange students. Further, we may be able to give residence places to some full degree students during their first or/and second semester of studies on a 'first come - first served' basis. We call your attention that enrolment at the IT University is a precondition for renting a dorm room.

Bachelor's student
The campus and university provides many exciting insides and competencies which can be utilized in a real world context. I enjoy the study very much and it could almost not be better. I think it provides much value as we learn to work together in groups and interact with a variety of cultural contexts.
Top‑up degree repetitive
It's fine, the teachers are mostly good and very engaged and the social life is fun, however the classes can sometimes be a bit repetitive. I've studied a 2 year degree before starting my top up degree.
Flexible Danish Balance
The teaching methods aren't the best, but it's easy to balance classes with your personal life or a job. As an international student, and generally in Denmark, communicating in English is no problem. However, this particular programme is no longer offered in English.
